Elements include:
Colour: A type of apperance that an object is, for example red can be associated with evil.
Language: A certain type of communication, used in conversation, for example bad language (swearing) can be used to represent a confrontational or rude character.
Text: Set of symbols that make up words, longer words can be used to represent intteligence.
Music: A colaboration of sounds, for example rap music can be used to represent gang culture.
Images: A visual representaion of someone or something.
Sound effect: A type of audio that is used to represent someone or something, for example a fog horn can be used to represent a ship.
Performers (for example soaps): A group of peole who act out the task that they are given, for example the characters in a pantomine are the performers.
Costumes: An outfit that is used to represent something for example an animal.
Props: Replica objects that are used to replicate real objects, such as a fake sword is used to represent a real sword.
Mise-en-scene: Is an expression, that decends from the french language, that is used to describe the different elements that have input in to a film or play, for example actors and props.

Connotation - A connotation is a commonly understood subjective cultural or emotional association that some word or phrase carries, in addition to the word's or phrase's explicit or literal meaning, which is its denotation.


Denotation -In logic, linguistics and semiotics, the denotation of a word or phrase is a part of its meaning.


Signification - When something is seen as pivotal to an event or happening.


Iconography -Iconography is the branch of art history which studies the identification, description, and the interpretation of the content of images.


Meaning created through techniques: e.g.


Cropping: A method of decreasing the size of an image, this acn be used to focus on one particular element in a character.
Sizing: Is used to enhance someone or somethings apperance, for example making an actor look older in order to make them seem more like their character.
Choice of camera angles: There are many camera angles, for exmaple close up and extreme close up, that can be used to focus on a charcater's expression.
Use of theme music and music beds: Theme music and music beds are used to associate a charcater with something for example james bond has his own theme tune so that he can be identified as a mysterious cahracter.
Use of captions: A caption allows the audience to get a detailed but simple description of a film.
Choice of font: The decision in which the type of apperance of a text is decided.
